The Dump

There is an easement on the east side (carport area) of the property, on the other side of the massive tree line. This is a public walkway as well. I could not believe it when I had a good look at the area, everyone in the hood was dumping their green waste and some garbage. I did not think to much of it at first, then I saw people doing it and I got really upset that people were dumping right next to my property. I posted a no dumping sign, actually the city has one too with a fine of $100, but no one paid any attention to it. I then gathered all the actual garbage and put it in a big pile for a few days before I hauled it away.

I went to the city and asked them to clean it up, clear out the area with a dump truck, level it and I will keep it mowed and cleaned. Once clean, people will not use it as a dump area. Garbage attracts garbage I like to say.

In preparation and in hopes they would do this, I cleared all the branches on the easement side to 12' high so there would be room to work, even doing that was a ton of work. It also exposed my property, but that was ok, as I had a plan.

So one day, the city came in with back hoe, a dump truck and a crew and cleaned it up. They also decided to pave the entire walkway which is great as it cleans up the entire area. Once they were all done, I raked out the area and cleaned up all branches and remaining debris. I can't even count the number of trips to the dump.

So now as winter is passing and spring is around the corner, I am hoping grass will fill in the area, I will keep it mowed and it will be a nice area.
