Building a Fence

I needed a fence, I have a large waterway in my backyard and we have a dog. The back yard is 250' long so that is a lot of fencing, and since we back on to farmland and I am coming from farmland, I decided to install farm fencing, it is affordable, strong and looks just fine in the right area.

I had to clear all the backyard tree lines in order to build a fence, all the trees were grown right down to the ground, I cleared up to the 12' area. This was a ton of work too, so many branches. My farm fence needed to be small enough to stop tennis balls and such from going through so I bought 2" fence.

I had a few problems to tackle, the fence where the new garage is going to go is only temporary and the fence on the carport side or east side is temporary as well, as I plan to take out all those trees, plant new ones and install a permanent fence line. I also needed gates, one temporary 8' gate to get the lawn tractor out and bikes, one gate to access the waterway where I am building a pier and one temporary gate to close off the carport.

Once I was ready and my plan was made I got started with the posts. I used my post pounder to put in all my posts, the ground is fairly soft here so it went well. I put in all my corner supports and gate supports. I had to build my own fence puller, a farm fence needs to be tight in order to work and look good. I used a wooden clamp and a come along. It worked well, but it was challenging to say the least to do the whole thing by yourself.

All this took me a few months to get to this point, and the whole time I had my dog Georgie on a lead and of course walked her everyday. Now she has a big fenced backyard and the kids have a safe area to play.
